QR codes across the event lifecycle
Events are the use case where dynamic QR codes save the most last-minute work. Schedules shift the week of the event. A speaker drops out and is replaced. The venue makes a room change you didn't expect. The registration platform has an outage and you switch providers two days before doors open. With static signage, each of those changes triggers a frantic reprint or a paper sticker over the original code. With a dynamic QR code, the printed signage stays — you update the redirect destination from your phone in under a minute.
Before the event
Set up codes for each major destination during your planning phase: registration, schedule, venue map, speaker bios, sponsor showcase, livestream link. Print them onto banners, badges, programmes, and venue signage well in advance. Because the codes are dynamic, you can keep the destinations pointing to placeholder pages until you're ready, then flip them to the real URLs as content gets finalised. This decouples the print deadline from the content deadline.
During the event
Use codes to handle real-time changes. A schedule swap mid-day? Update the destination, and every printed schedule QR code in the venue immediately reflects it. A breakout room moved? Update the venue map link. A speaker session running long and the next session pushed back? Update once, propagated everywhere. This works for both physical signage and any digital touchpoint that's already been distributed to attendees.
After the event
Don't throw away the codes. Reuse them. After the event, redirect the registration code to a feedback survey. Redirect the schedule code to a recap page with photos and slides. Redirect the speaker code to a list of next year's confirmed speakers. The same codes printed for last year's event can carry attendees through to next year's registration — Scanta's codes don't expire, so the work you put into year one continues paying off in year two and beyond.
Tracking attendance signal
Scan analytics give you a rough proxy for engagement: how many attendees actually checked the schedule, how many looked up speakers, how many scanned the sponsor codes. You won't get full identity-level analytics from a free QR code service, but the aggregate signal is useful for understanding what content people consumed and what to invest more in next event.

Can I update the QR code destination after printing the signage?
Yes — that's the core benefit. A Scanta dynamic QR code points to a redirect, not the URL directly. Log into your dashboard, change the destination, and every printed sign or banner immediately points to the new address. The physical code does not change.
What if the event schedule changes last minute?
Update the link in your dashboard. It takes under a minute. Attendees who scan any existing sign will immediately reach the updated schedule page — no reprinting, no new signs.
Do the QR codes expire after the event?
No. Scanta dynamic QR codes do not expire on the free plan. You can reuse the same code for your next event by simply updating the destination URL in your dashboard.
Is there a limit on how many people can scan the code at the same time?
There are no scan limits on any Scanta plan. Whether 10 or 10,000 attendees scan simultaneously, the redirect handles it without throttling.
